This premium 1/4" compression bit (also known as an up-down CNC bit) is a unique bit for CNC routers. It allows you to cut out your CNC project while leaving both the top and bottom edges of your project clean (eliminates tear-out).
The 1/4" compression bit can cut the entire depth of 3/4" material in one pass.
1/4 compression bits are commonly used in place of the 1/4 up-cutting endmill and the down-cutting endmill. They are excellent for use when cutting out plywood at full depth on your CNC woodworking projects.

I picked up a Chinesium 1/4" compression end mill prior to getting the IDC version (about a week apart) and started my last job with it. About 20 minutes into the 1 hour roughing pass, it was kicking, squealing like a stuck pig and skipping, tearing up my sizable test part to the point I had to do an emergency stop.
Swapped in the IDC bit and Man, what a difference! Not only was it cutting Smooth and Quiet, but the finish for a roughing pass almost looked like a finish pass. Nice, sharp bits with Quality cutting edges will do wonders, and I'm ecstatic to say the least!
The worst bit (pun op?) is that the Chinesium bit wasn't but a few dollars cheaper vs the IDC American made one, but was Way less than half as effective. That's not good economic sense for efficiency or productivity metrics.
